A film producer, Kelvin Ushie, has urged Motion Picture Producers (MPP) to do epic movies that would be appreciated worldwide.

Ushie told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that if producers packaged their productions very well, the products would sell.

“When we do good movies and highlight a lot of quality stories, Nigeria will be a home to identify with in film production.

“It is not enough to call us number one or two and we do not produce good movies that can tell our stories.

“There are works that are good but we need to do more. It is because most of us go for cheap production; that is why we do not have good story lines,’’ he told NAN.

Ushie said that with proper packaging, Nigerian film producers could easily win laurels.

The producer said that some people indulged in all sorts of films, just to earn money.

Ushie, however, said practitioners in the industry should be blamed for not coming together to take the film industry to another level.

He said that film practitioners could also use the medium to enlighten the people on government policies.

“We really have to use film as a corrective measure to change the society. Films tell stories and how things can be best handled.

“It is the responsibility of government to fight for the good of the society,’’ the producer added. (NAN)
